Meet Jean Sussman: A Champion for Financial Equity
Transforming Lives, One Loan at a Time
As a member of the Loan Committee, Jean conducts interviews with prospective borrowers, offering her a unique perspective on the life-changing impact of zero-interest loans. For Jean, these interviews are more than just conversations—they’re powerful reminders of how vital our financial assistance can be for our borrowers.
“Our loan applicants find themselves in situations where they need immediate assistance to help them get not only where they were before, but hopefully reach goals that they hadn’t thought were possible,” Jean shares. “It reminds us that it's important to think about people who have, for whatever reason, not been as fortunate as we have.”
Jean’s words echo the essence of JFLC’s work. She highlights how a single loan can ripple outward, touching not just the borrower but their families and communities. “The most memorable moments are when we realize that a JFLC loan is going to make an important difference in someone’s life. Often, it extends beyond the individual—to their children, parents, or even extended families,” she explains.
A Call to Action for Volunteers and Donors
Jean is passionate about encouraging others to get involved with JFLC, whether through volunteering or financial support. “If you’re interested in volunteering, it is important to really accept and embrace the mission of JFLC and be the kind of person who can listen very carefully,” Jean advises. She emphasizes the importance of empathy and understanding in helping individuals navigate their financial challenges.
Financial contributions are another cornerstone of JFLC’s impact, and Jean strongly advocates for giving generously. “There aren’t many organizations that do the work that JFLC does,” she states. “My advice? Give. And give generously.”
Making a Difference Together
Jean’s unwavering dedication to JFLC’s mission is an inspiring reminder of how one person’s compassion can create a ripple effect of positive change. Through her volunteer work and advocacy, Jean has not only supported our borrowers but also strengthened our community as a whole.
We are profoundly grateful for Jean’s commitment and contributions to JFLC. She serves as a remarkable example of what it means to make a difference with compassion, purpose, and generosity.
Thank you, Jean, for everything you do to support JFLC and our mission!
